Your mom probably told you more than once to eat your vegetables, right? If your mom was like mine, she chopped and served fresh when she could.
Once you have discovered the undertone of your skin, you are ready to go in search of the lipstick and blush color – or colors! – that will brighten your complexion, enhance your whole appearance and possibly become life-long favorites or “signature” looks.
As a woman over 50, finding your fit in the fashion world can be a major struggle. This is especially true for plus size women.
Whether you’re simply ready for a change, want to freshen up your look or your favorite lipstick has been discontinued – and doesn’t that happen way too often? – finding just the right lip and blush color can be a game-changer.

If you’re the one person on the planet who’s not on Facebook, congrats.
You’ve saved yourself from debilitating bouts of FOMO (fear of missing out) due to viewing travel photos from exotic locales, idealistic visits with perfectly well-behaved grandchildren and other fairy tale visions suitable for a Disney movie.
I received this email the other day from a friend who is five years past her cancer experience.
“I’ve been thinking of you as you move in to the next stage of your cancer journey. I remember having very mixed feelings at each stage – I was somewhat worried/scared as the treatments lessened.”
Tennis is a complicated, beautiful game where there are many skills to master – and strategies to learn. But it also acts as a mirror, illuminating our relationship with ourselves and others, and presents wonderful opportunities to practice mindfulness.
As far back as I can remember, conventional wisdom has been that the higher our HDL cholesterol levels, the less we and our healthcare providers had to be concerned about our ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol levels.

Today, I want to talk about 3 senior dating mindsets that hold women in their 50s and 60s back. It may be hard to admit it, but, often, we are our own worst enemies when it comes to dating. So, let’s explore this topic together!
A few weeks ago, there was an article in The Wall Street Journal challenging the longstanding belief that men should pay for women on the first date.
When I found myself single after 32 years of marriage, I vacillated between delight and despondency. After three years on my own, I tentatively approached online dating, and numerous coffee date debacles taught me a lot.

Slow travel is not so much about how fast you navigate a new place. It reflects a philosophy of life. Fast travel is active, busy and hurried. It can be an impatient and frantic way of visiting a new place.
I hadn’t been to Europe in many years, so I spontaneously decided to ‘dash’ across the pond with my carry-on and explore some new cities and countries. It would be just like the days of my youth: me, a carry-on, hopping on and off trains and trams, feeling light and free.
Thinking about finally making that great trip to Europe? Whether you travel regularly, or your trip is a once in a lifetime opportunity, when it comes to taking that big vacation abroad, you want to make the most of every moment.
Do you find it a struggle packing for your next trip? More often than not, packing clothes and shoes is the most difficult part. For those of us who travel with only a carry-on, what we carry in our toiletries bag can have us ‘pulling our hair out’ with all the regulations in place.

It is 97 degrees out today, and a girlfriend and I are getting on the river. I am blessed to live in the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado, with outdoor amenities at my fingertips.
Of course, the answer is, “Nothing.” There is nothing wrong with me just as there is nothing wrong with you – in case you were wondering. However, I am in the age group considered to be old and undesirable for employment.
There was a time when I felt sure that I would continue working until age 70 or beyond. In fact, I often joked that one day I would simply resign from my job at the nursing home where I worked as an RN and move myself into the assisted living facility next door.
Do you yearn for more spending money? Have you always wanted to visit Barcelona? Or perhaps you enjoy meeting new people. Whatever the reason, you might consider opening your home to strangers through a vacation rental like Airbnb, VRBO, or a host of other online rental agencies.

While sorting through my inbox, I came across one email with the subject line “Loving Life with Less.” Given my interest in downsizing, I was very excited to read it. Yes! I thought. That’s exactly the goal.
One of the topics that endlessly fascinates me is how solo women of “a certain age’” are going to live healthy and happy lives in retirement.
Many single women prefer solitude and want to live alone. Others crave living with a crowd of like-minded people of all ages. They want dogs, cats, kids… the whole human experience!
As a young woman, I was always on the lookout for female role models. There were not a lot of them on television in the 1960s. In fact, I remember my first real exposure to TV was Bonanza where four guys dominated the screen. I didn’t let this stop me from identifying with who I thought was the most handsome, interesting and clever. Adam of course!
Summer’s not nearly over and we’re bombarded with back-to-school ads. It’s an exciting time for school kids – time for new clothes and supplies, for moving up to the next grade and reconnecting with friends. One thing I miss about formal education is that fresh start every semester.
Mindset and Inspiration | Read About Happiness, Gratitude, Nostalgia, Getting Older and More!
Late one night, after a recent college reunion, I got to talking with a group of close friends. We’d had a few drinks. And having split our sides laughing over the course of two days about our shared pasts, we began to muse about our individual futures.
One of the things I’ve noticed about getting older is my tendency to try and keep things neat and predictable. I often long for a life that requires few changes and gives me plenty of time to control my own environment. I get it that this is a pipe dream, but it’s also not what’s really best for me.
