Good morning everyone! Well, yesterday, I did something that I thought I would never do. I dyed my hair pink!
Why would I dye my hair pink you ask? Well, you’ll need to watch the video for a complete explanation, but, the short story is that it is part of my mission to fight back against invisibility.

Being the right weight is a lot about loving yourself. You can’t love yourself fully if you’re depriving yourself of looking your best, waiting for that perfect figure. You can’t love yourself if you squeeze into too tight clothes or wear oversized tunics that hide you.
Yoga is a robust and still-growing sector of the health and wellness industry. Its popularity is being driven in no small part by boomers and healthcare providers who see it as an eminently accessible way to increase flexibility and muscle strength.
I have to admit I do not cook pasta very often, except in the summer as it makes an easy and inexpensive dinner. With today’s rising food prices, I think about what we eat. This is actually quite easy as my husband shops the bargains.
Do you feel compelled to eat everything on your plate because you feel guilty “wasting” food, even if it means feeling too full and overeating?

Rejection at this ripe time in our lives can really stink. There’s no way around it. As we learn to move on after divorce, even the strongest of us can’t help but feel like we did something wrong when the person we loved and cared about, and spent our lives with as a partner, suddenly doesn’t want to be with us anymore.
At some point in most monogamous, over-60 relationships, the issue of whether or not to live together comes up. During the 60s and 70s, moving in with your sweetheart was so common and freewheeling that it earned the dubious label, “shacking up.”
Today more than ever, women over the age of 50 are finding opportunities for love and friendship in the unlikeliest of places. They are meeting in competitive sporting events, senior living communities, book clubs, cruises and traveling groups.

Marion and Roger, a pair of Brits from 40 miles west of London, boarded the ship carefully. They’re in their 70s, and both are intrepid travelers.
How daunting it is to pack for your holiday! It is confusing, tricky and frustrating, but I think I got it right – now, after 5 years.
Since 2013, I have been travelling the world. I first out with a 100-litre bag, then a 65-litre bag and now just with a carry on and a daypack.
We’ve all been there. We’re having a wonderful holiday making beautiful memories, but our bodies are just not cooperating. One of the worst things about taking a cruise alone is having to deal with the dreaded single supplement. As a solo woman traveler, your options are fairly limited. You can either pay 25% to 100% more for the privilege of having your own room. Or, you can find someone to pair up with.

Along with the benefits of being a freelancer, or running your own small business, come some aggravating problems. These hassles will occasionally occur, so you should be ready for them. Here are my solutions to the most common issues.
Ageism is real and it’s about to get a lot worse. That’s the simple conclusion that I have come to after researching and thinking about the impact that automation is going to have on society in the coming decades.
I don’t usually let stupid comments get to me, but, the other day, one of my good friends said something that really ticked me off. No, they didn’t criticize my hair or tell me that I looked fat in my favorite dress. They told me that I was wasting my time trying to help older adults to change their financial future. Specifically, she said:
Starting a salary negotiation in your 50s or 60s can be a terrifying prospect. In many ways, it is like negotiating a salary increase at any other age – you worry about hurting your reputation with your boss, feel awkward about asking for a raise and worry that doing so will hurt your prospects at the company.

Over the weekend, I was riding my bike to one of my favorite coffee shops, which is only about 10 miles away, so it’s usually an easy ride.
But on this day, the wind was blowing “like spit,” as my grandmother used to say. (Do you ever think about things people said as you were growing up that you never thought much about, and then at some point, you begin to wonder “what on earth did that mean?”)
Were you a reader as a child? Did you snuggle up in a chair or under the covers at bedtime while an adult read to you? If so, chances are you were impacted by the wisdom found in children’s books.
Whenever I watch children playing together at the park, it always reminds me of a giant chemistry experiment. Like atoms spinning through the air, boys and girls whirl around, bumping into each other. Occasionally, they come together in small groups, only to be ripped apart by unseen forces.
A few years ago, I left my comfortable life in Seattle, Washington, to relocate to Switzerland. Technically, I wasn’t “retiring abroad.” As the founder of Sixty and Me, I was still busy for most of the day. I was also continuing to work as a freelance consultant. So, perhaps, “semi-retirement” would be a more accurate description.

Many women say they feel invisible as they age. Feeling invisible when you want to be noticed and acknowledged is one side of the coin. Other women, though, feel relief when mid-life attracts less unwelcome attention.
In the summer months, they crowd the waiting area where I get my hair trimmed. They are filled with laughter and secrets and a great deal of joy.
When I see them, I know immediately that they are either bachelorettes out for a day of primping and camaraderie or they’re getting ready for a wedding that’s about to happen.
As an older woman, you have years of experience and wisdom. It would be wise to assume that you’d ooze self-confidence.
However, that isn’t always the case, especially in a world that is focused on youthful appearances. We say, “Screw that!”
When I was young, one of my mother’s favorite television programs was I Love Lucy. In this sitcom, actress Lucille Ball played the role of a scheming housewife who often used tears to soften her husband when he confronted her ‘childish’ behaviors. Not surprisingly, my own mother behaved in similar ways.
