Wearing and experimenting with makeup is one of the great perks of being a woman. After all, makeup has the ability to transform our appearance, boost our confidence and allow us to enhance our natural beauty.

As women over 60 years old, we often face different makeup challenges. But applying eyeliner is one aspect of makeup application that can be difficult for many women, regardless of their age.

Applying eyeliner with a pencil or felt-tip pen can present many challenges – smudging, slipping or even poking us in the eyes.

So, how can we overcome these eyeliner issues and show off beautifully lined eyes?

Luckily, we are joined today by celebrity makeup artist Ariane Poole, who is going to share some of her secrets for successful eyeliner application.

Let’s see what she has to say!

Tips to Minimize the Wiggle

One of the most common issues that women face when applying eyeliner is dealing with a shaky hand. Ariane can relate to the shaky-handed struggle that many of us face with eyeliner application and knows the frustration of ending up with an accordion-looking line on your top lid.

It’s no secret that a shaky hand often results in a wiggly line, and no one wants that!

But fear not – Ariane has some fail-proof techniques to help you apply your eyeliner in a smooth and even line. By following these steps, you won’t ever deal with accordion-looking eyeliner again!

Eye Pencil Eyeliner Application

When lining top lashes, look straight ahead in the mirror with your chin tilted up, as if you were looking up your nostrils. This is the most important part!

Hold the eye pencil horizontally and move across the eyelid from the inside of your eye outwards.

Stop just before getting to the ends of your lashes.

When lining lower lashes, hold the pencil vertically and rub it into the lower lash line.

The process for applying eyeliner with a felt-tip pen is slightly different. Because a felt-tip pen gives you a different depth of color, you need to alter the application process slightly.

Felt-tip Eyeliner Application

For this one, tilt your head back and look either down your nose or up your nostril – ultimately you want to be looking slightly downwards rather than straight ahead.

Press the pen into the base of the lashes little by little. This allows you to not worry about any slipping and create the illusion of a fuller lash.

With these simple tips from Ariane, you’ll be sporting perfectly lined eyes in no time! No more accordion looking lines or shaky hands – just beautifully enhanced eyes!

What technique do you use to apply your eyeliner?  Have you had any accidents using that technique? Do you find Ariane’s method easier or more difficult? Do you have any other eyeliner tips? We look forward to hearing your tips and suggestions in the comments.
