Beauty After 50: Get Real Result from Faux Tanning (Video)

By Margaret Manning May 10, 2015 Beauty

When it comes to beauty after 50, one of the worst things that you can do to your skin is to spend too much time in the sun. As the days get longer and the sun returns, it may be tempting to get a “healthy” looking tan.

In reality, this is only going to make you look older and damage your skin in the long term. In this video, makeup artist, Ariane Poole, offers an alternative to dangerous tanning. She says that some of the new “faux tanning” solutions are top notch.

Towards the beginning of our conversation, Ariane points out that it is actually quite difficult to find a faux tanning product that doesn’t turn your orange or make you look blotchy. As a result, finding fake tanning products that work has been a passion of hers for several years.

Ariane says that one of her favorite brands is Bondi Sands, which she personally uses quite often. Unlike some other tanning products, this one won’t make you smell like false tan – and it just works! The company is based in Australia, but, they ship internationally. So, no matter where you live, you can give them a try.

Next, Ariane gives a demonstration of how to apply your faux tan product to get the best possible results. Because the product that she does the demonstration with has it’s own color, she is able to apply it without causing streaks.

If You Haven’t Tried Faux Tan Before, Now May Be a Good Time to Start!

In our conversation, Ariane and I discuss the many benefits of faux tan. Probably the most obvious is that gives you one more excuse to stay out of the sun. By the time we reach our 50s and 60s, when it comes to our skin, it’s easy to think that “the damage has been done.”

In reality, one of the best things we can do to keep our skin in as good a condition as possible is to avoid excessive sun exposure and to use sunscreen.

Faux tan lets us have the confidence that comes from having a tan, without doing additional damage to our body.

Another advantage to using a good fake tanning product is that it expands the range of clothes that you feel comfortable wearing. For example, I personally feel a bit uncomfortable wearing skirts when my legs are super white and pasty. Do you feel the same?

Do You Airbrush Your Legs?

Ariane points out that our veins have a tendency to show more as we get a little older. In addition, our small “bumps and bruises” tend to take longer to heal. If you experience any of these challenges, Ariane says that you may want to consider Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs. This product washes off with a cleanser, making it ideal for special occasions.

Finally, Ariane does a demonstration of the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs product. It’s absolutely hilarious. You’ll see what I mean when you watch the video!

As Ariane and I have discussed so many times, beauty after 50 isn’t about “anti-aging.” It’s about looking and feeling your best. Hopefully the specific faux tan product recommendations in this video will help you to get the look your want this summer!
