Since starting Sixty and Me several years ago, I’ve asked hundreds of questions to the women in our community. We’ve discussed serious issues like loneliness. We’ve discussed silly topics, like who is the sexiest male celebrity over 60. We’ve argued about whether it is possible to find love after 50. Of all of the questions that I have asked, none has spurred more discussion than the topic of going grey.
I don’t know about you, but, I think clothing for women over 60 is so much fun. It doesn’t matter that most of the major fashion brands ignore us. I’m SO over high heels anyway! What matters is that, as women in our 60s, we can finally feel free to choose clothing styles that fit our personalities.
Is it possible that there will be a pill to reverse aging within our lifetimes? According to new research by the Mayo Clinic, the answer to this question is leaning in the positive direction. Let’s take a look at the study and start a discussion.
When it comes to fashion for older women, what are the fashion essentials that everyone should have in their wardrobe? Judith Boyd (a.k.a “The Style Crone”) has the answer!
Seeing young women advertising anti-aging creams has always annoyed me. Their skin is already flawless. What “improvements” could they possibly desire? I realize, of course, that I may not be in the target audience for most anti-aging creams. Women who are under extreme pressure to look useful are usually in their 30s or 40s.
Ooh La La! My friend and fashion after 60 expert Judith Boyd is back from her trip to Paris and she has some unexpected fashion tips to share! If you have been following Judith for a while, you know that she is fabulously eccentric and fun to watch.
Do you love hats? So do I! I’m not sure why, but, the older I get, the more I love looking for interesting hats and other accessories. Talking with the other women in the Sixty and Me community, it sounds like I’m not alone!
When I travel by train, I often gaze at people and pretend to be Sherlock Holmes. One of the trends that I have noticed recently is tattoos for older women. It seems like many women my age are breaking aging stereotypes and adding some ink to their beautiful older bodies. Personally, I’ve never had the urge to get a tattoo, but, I totally understand where they are coming from!
Of all of the people that I have interviewed for the Sixty and Me Show, Cindy Joseph is one of my favorites. Cindy is a mature model and the founder of Boom Cosmetics. She is undeniably beautiful, but, it is her personality and passion for life that I appreciated the most.
When I sat down to talk with Cindy, I expected the conversation to focus on how to find beauty after 60 in a practical sense – what to wear, how to apply makeup, etc. What we actually talked about was far more philosophical – and far more interesting.
One of the best things about getting older is that you no longer need to worry about what people think. This is especially true when it comes to style and fashion for women over 60. Sure, there are certain principles that can help you to look your best – but, for the most part, now is the time to express your personality!
