Autumn is my favorite season. For one thing, I have more energy in cooler weather. But it’s not just the changing temperatures that make me feel this way – it’s the splashes of yellow, orange, and red foliage that seem to be everywhere in the fall months. All three of these warm hues are associated with energy.
Did you know that the colors around you impact the way you feel? And that the colors you wear can influence how you want to feel and how others perceive you?
Recently, a client asked me to go through her husband’s closet with her to see what he had selected to discard. Her husband commented, “My polo shirts alone will last me for the rest of my life.”
I was quite taken aback. I had never thought about someone’s wardrobe in terms of its longevity before. But clearly, he had a point. Do we really need much after a certain age? Who are we trying to impress? What would we rather spend our money on?
There are an increasing number of older women crushing today’s prejudices about their lack of style.

But, did you know that older men are also taking the fashion world by storm?
It’s amazing to me that, even when someone takes a positive aging stance, their views are framed as “anti-aging secrets.” This was exactly what I thought this morning as I watched an interview with Jane Seymour on the show This Morning.
I was blessed with a mother who could take a scarf and a couple of cheap bangles and turn an inexpensive outfit into a fashion statement. It was a knack she acquired by watching her aunties; women from the twenties! It’s a knack that has been handed down. We are all women who love our accessories.
Since the weather has taken a turn for the cooler temperatures, we are wearing more layers, jackets and coverings. And a great way to add some fun and excitement to these pieces is with one or all of your brooches!
Finding the perfect plus size top isn’t easy. You have to deal with the shoddy selection in local stores, or compare styles and prices across dozens of online retailers. Either way, it takes some time and patience.
If you’re like me, you have a uniform – a particular type of outfit – that you wear most days.
Yours might be a white shirt and trousers, a wrap dress, or a skirt and jacket. Mine is a tee-shirt and jeans, topped with a blazer. These pieces are wardrobe staples you probably have in your closet.
If you are a woman who follows the blogger, Instagram and Twitter fashionistas of the world, you have probably gained the impression that you need to wear something new and different every single day. Wrong!
There are a variety of reasons this will not work for you, or most people you know. Not the least being lack of space, lack of time and lack of money!
