When I talk with the women in our community about dating after 60, I am usually met with skeptical, or even cynical, responses. The most common complaint that women our age have about older men is that they only want to date younger women.

But, is that really true? Over the years, I’ve seen physically stunning men with fairly average looking women – and vice versa. I personally know more than a few women who have been on 100s of dates since their 60th birthday. None of them are models. Most of them have never had plastic surgery. Only a few of them even wear makeup.

Who is Winning the Dating After 60 Game and Why?

Do you want to know what all of these women have in common? They are confident. They are quick to smile. They love life and want to share their dreams with others. It’s that simple. In a way, it reminds me of a quote by Aimee Mullins, who said “confidence is the sexiest thing a woman can have. It’s much sexier than any body part.”

Dating after 60 - Aimee Mullins - confidence is the sexiest thing a woman can have

Now, I’m not saying that dating after 60 – or dating at any age for that matter – is easy. Far from it! I’m simply saying that the women who assume that men only want to be with 20-something fashion models are missing 2 key points. First, there simply aren’t enough 20-something fashion models to go around. Second, men are much more interesting in confidence and passion than they are in firm legs and flawless skin.
