One of the most useful makeup products for older women is concealer. When you chose the right concealer for your aging skin and apply it correctly, it can have a major impact on your look. Concealer won’t make you look younger. But, it may help you to look and feel your best!

In this video, professional makeup artist, Ariane Pool, and I discuss what works (and what doesn’t) when it comes to selecting a concealer that is perfect for your skin. Trust me, you will be surprised by what Ariane has to say!

Here are a few of the questions that Ariane answers:

  • How much concealer should you apply?
  • Should the way that you apply concealer change as you get older?
  • What kinds of concealers should you use for different situations?
  • Where should you use your mineral pen to get the maximum results?
  • When will using a concealer actually draw attention to your wrinkles?

Following are a few take-a-ways from the video. Please watch the interview and join the conversation at the end of this article.

Stop Putting Your Concealer on First

The first thing that Ariane mentions is to make sure that you apply your concealer after your other layers. Because concealers are lighter than they used to be, we have a tendency to rub them off if we apply them before everything else.

When it Comes to Finding the Best Concealer for Older Skin, One Size Does Not Fit All

Next, Ariane reminds us that there are different concealers for different purposes. Some concealers, which Ariane demonstrates in the video, are great for hiding blemishes, high coloring and pigmentation. On the other hand, if you want to use a concealer under your eyes, you may want to consider using a mineral pen, which is much lighter weight.

Incidentally, in the video, Ariane gives a great demonstration of how to get the most from your mineral pen. I guarantee that the way that she applies her concealer will change your look entirely. This is a fantastic technique for getting rid of dark circles.

Use Enough Concealer to Make a Difference

In the interview, Ariane explains that many women are nervous to use a generous amount of concealer. Ariane encourages us not to be shy when it comes to applying this makeup product. As she explains, you really want to use enough to make a noticeable difference. This is a tad difficult to explain in writing, but, Ariane shows you exactly how much to apply in the video.

As always, I had so much fun filing this makeup tips for older women video with Ariane. She is a blast to hang out with. I hope you enjoy the video!
