Eye Makeup for Older Women: Give Your Eyes that Special Sparkle (Video)

By Margaret Manning May 23, 2014 Beauty

Many women consider their eyes to be their most beautiful asset. In video we’ll talk about how to use eye makeup for older women to make your eyes shine.

Eye Makeup for Older Women Can Be the Pièce de Résistance

Linda is comfortable with makeup and, thanks to a regime that she swears by, has flawless skin. She explained that her one big issue is that her eye shadow always creases after just a few minutes. She also explained that she wears glasses, which was another consideration.

During the makeover, Ariane showed Linda that there are several new products that are formulated to last all day. Watch the video and don’t forget to stay until the end to see Ariane give Linda a beautiful smoky eye look! Enjoy the show!

Primer, Foundation and Concealer

Linda has very smooth, clear skin. So Ariane started with a light application of Ariane Poole Mineral Tint Foundation in Porcelain, which is a combined primer and foundation. She also mentioned the possibility of using Ariane Poole Retexturizing Face Primer SPF20 or Laura Mercier Foundation Primer.

For concealer she mixed the perfect shade for Linda from her Ariane Poole Concealer Palette and placed a tiny dab of Ariane Poole Mineral Illuminating Pen in Light at the corner of her eyes. Another highlighter option would have been Estee Lauder Double Wear Brush on Glow BB Highlighter. This step will give you a good base to build on, before applying eye makeup for older women.

Applying Long-Lasting Eye Makeup

Since keeping Linda’s eye shadow in place was a primary focus, Ariane started by applying a base on her eyelids. She used Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Eye Shadow Base and then applied Ariane Poole Eye Shine in Gravity. She lined Linda’s eyes with Ariane Poole Super Wear Gel Pencil in Mystic and Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Eye Pencil in Graphite. These are both long lasting liner products that bring a smoky eye to life.

Ariane reminded us to apply liner underneath the eyes and run the pencil sideways against the eye, rather than directly with the point. To give a little extra texture and depth, Ariane applied Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Gel Eyeliner in Steel Grey.

The layering continued with Ariane Poole’s Quad Eye Shadow in Smoke & Mirrors. She also suggested another palette Estee Lauder Pure Color Five Color Eye Shadow Palette in Film Noir that would be perfect for Linda’s skin color and gorgeous black hair. Ariane also recommended Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero-Smudge Liquid Eyeliner in Graphite as an option.

The final touch was Ariane’s favorite thickening mascara, Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara in Black. Because Linda prefers a waterproof mascara, Ariane applied Diorshow Iconic Waterproof Mascara, which is a little like a “raincoat” for any brand of mascara. Linda then fell in love with Ariane Poole’s Heated Eye Lash Curler, which gave her lashes the final dramatic curl.

The Finishing Touch – Cheeks and Lips

Ariane advised Linda to apply her blush with her glasses on and use Bobbi Brown Blush in Rose for the perfect effect. She used Ariane Poole Under Eye & Face Brightener to give her face a special glow. For lips, Ariane applied Ariane Poole Lip Pencil in Teaberry. Then Linda applied her own favorite lipstick, Buxom Full-On Lipstick in Barcelona (Scarlet Apple).

The look was absolutely stunning. It was not complete until Linda came back 2 hours later to show us that her eye shadow and liner had not creased at all. She commented that this was the first time in her life this had happened!
