My Yummy Anti-Aging, Anti-Wrinkle Chocolate Banana Pudding

By Mary Black October 11, 2023 Health and Fitness

What if I told you there was an incredibly tasty, anti-aging and anti-wrinkle, healthy chocolate pudding that is dairy-free, healthy, gluten-free and… did I mention healthy???

If you’re like me and have a sweet tooth even though you know it’s not good for you – you’re not alone. I blame my propensity for sweets on genetics, inheriting straight from my dad and grandma!

Sugar and How It Ages the Body

We all know processed sugar is not good for us, but did you know it can contribute to accelerated aging and wrinkles? Yes, wrinkles!

Eating a lot of high-sugar foods such as donuts, candy bars, ice cream, etc. creates a toxic cocktail inside your body contributing to accelerated aging.

As someone who probably has less decades left of life than she’s already experienced, I’m all about finding ways to slow down the aging process. Also, I’m after reversing the effects of some of the not-so-healthy choices I made in my younger days.

Anti-Aging Through Food

As Hippocrates so simply said, “Let food be thy medicine.” We can add, “Let food be thy anti-aging medicine.” If we looked at the foods we put into our body as carefully as we pick the anti-aging lotions and potions we apply on our body, not only would we look better, we’d feel better too.

Who doesn’t want to feel 20 years younger than society tells them they should feel? (Picture me with both hands raised, jumping up and down!)

It has only been eight years since I adopted a healthy lifestyle of eating mostly whole foods and a fitness program along with changing my mindset. I feel decades younger now, than I did back then!

Telomeres, A Biological Clock

In the last couple of decades, science has made huge progress in anti-aging studies and has even found our biological clock, the so called telomeres. What are telomeres, exactly?

Simply put (I am not a scientist), they are like little nubbins on the end of our chromosomes, somewhat similar to the end of a shoelace. When our cells divide, these little nubbins don’t replicate; instead, they get shorter and shorter as we age.

Telomeres are supposed to shorten naturally. However, unhealthy lifestyle habits such as smoking, lack of exercise and eating unhealthy foods (including too much sugar) can accelerate the shortening.

As the telomeres get shorter and shorter, we show signs of aging: less muscle and bone density, wrinkles and memory loss. There are some supplements that support our telomeres, but remember, a supplement is supplementing an already anti-aging diet.

So what does that mean?

The ways we find to remove unhealthy, processed and sugar-laden foods, the slower we age and the less wrinkles we have! (Win-win!)

A Winning Anti-Aging, Anti-Wrinkle Recipe

I know you’re already thinking, “Would you just get on with the recipe?” I’m almost there. But, since I’ve always been one of those people who like to ask “Why?” I wanted to give you a reason or two to stop and try a healthier option to an unhealthy food.

If you are on Pinterest, follow my Clean Eating and Clean Treats boards for an easy way to find some healthy deliciousness.

Are you ready for the recipe yet?

Ingredients:

8 oz. chilled, unsweetened nut milk (I am loving the Silk coconut and almond milk combo)
2 scoops chocolate plant protein
1 chilled, medium banana, broken into pieces

Directions:

Place the ingredients in a Magic Bullet or blender in the order above. Blend until creamy with no chunks.

I keep a couple of bananas in the fridge all the time. The skin will turn brown, but the fruit stays fine! I like to have this for breakfast or use it for those times when I am jonesing for something sweet at night.

There you have it! Super simple and so good for you! If you are looking for a way to get started on a healthy food plan, but don’t know where to start, get my FREE Meal Guide sent to your inbox!

All of those plant-based milks are highly processed foods. So I’m not sure how almond milk and chocolate plant protein qualify as being healthy “unprocessed” foods. The only unprocessed item I can see in that recipe is the banana, and bananas are high in sugar.

What exactly is chocolate plant protein? Also, where is the nutrition count for calories, carbs, etc?

Blonnie

I had the same questions. Not familiar with chocolate plant protein.

Bananas and chocolate are lovely together. Every few weeks I make a banana and chocolate loaf cake for my husband’s office, his colleagues often take slices home with them 😊

I don’t eat a lot of bananas, but every so often I have a craving for wholemeal toast with strawberry jam and sliced banana on top. Someone told me the craving is linked to the need to top up potassium levels. All I know is it’s a yummy sweet treat!
