At 60, Reba McEntire Definitely Isn’t Singing “Consider Me Gone”

By Margaret Manning March 28, 2015 Lifestyle

It always makes me happy to see people in their 60s, breaking aging stereotypes and living their own way. Well, Reba McEntire, who turns 60 today, definitely fits this description. As one of the most successful music artists of all time, McEntire, “The Queen of Country,” certainly doesn’t need to keep working.

Fortunately for country music fans everywhere, like many baby boomers, McEntire doesn’t show any signs of stopping soon. Her 2010 song, Consider Me Gone, reached the number 1 position on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs list. But, in the real world, McEntire is singing anything other than “consider me gone.”

Her next album, Love Somebody, is scheduled to release on April 14th, finally giving fans a glimpse of what she’s been working on over the last 5 years.

So, happy 60th birthday Reba! Thanks for being a shining light for country music fans everywhere – and a shining light for boomers who are refusing to slow down.

What is your favorite song by Reba McEntire? Do you agree that we need more positive role models of people in their 60s and older who are refusing to slow down? Please join the conversation.
