Applying Makeup for Wrinkles and Age Spots (Video)
In this video, we will walk through how to apply makeup for wrinkles. We also cover several surprising techniques for dealing with age spots. Ariane and I created this video series to help women look and feel their best at any age. It’s not about looking younger. It’s about looking and feeling great!
Applying Makeup for Wrinkles Isn’t as Hard as You Think
Our guest, Devorah explained that her primary goal was for her face to look bright, lifted and full of vitality. She wanted to feel more revived and comfortable. Devorah is also a makeup novice and admitted that she was a little hesitant to try makeup again after a few bad experiences with in-store makeovers.
Ariane took her through a series of steps to give her a beautiful day look. She brightened her face and brought out her vibrant, energized glow.
With Devorah, Ariane did not follow the same order as our exclusive step-by-step beauty series. She knew how uncomfortable Devorah was with makeup and wanted each product to build her confidence. Here’s Devorah’s makeover.
Starting with Primer
The first thing Ariane did was to apply Ariane Poole Retexturizing Face Primer SPF20. This primer smoothed Devorah’s skin, especially around her eyes, where she has wonderful smile lines. Ariane also mentioned other great products like Laura Mercier Foundation Primerand Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil. This is an important step when applying makeup for wrinkles.
Next Stop, Foundation
Ariane decided to use a CC (Complexion Corrector) cream on Devorah’s skin. CC cream has little colour to the eye, but, it evens the skin tone. It adjusts to the colour of your complexion colour.
Fresh and youthful, but, not anti-aging, it is a natural option for a makeup “novice.” It also slows down exaggerated aging. So, while it does not reverse aging, it can slow down the formation of deep lines and wrinkles. She used Ariane Poole Brightening CC Cream SPF20 in Medium/Deep but also mentioned Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream SPF30 and Bobbi Brown CC Cream SPF35.
Shaping Your Brows
Devorah’s thick eyebrows are a part of her personality. The shape of her brows was perfect, so Ariane just outlined them with Ariane Poole Brow Tint in Fawn. One other option she mentioned was Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium.
Highlighting Devorah’s Cheeks
The choice that Ariane made for Devorah’s cheeks was perfect. Her Bobbi Brown Gel Blush Stick gave a pop of colour that immediately opened her eyes, brightened her face and gave a wonderful glow! Other products mentioned were Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks in Rose, Nars the Multiple in Malibu or Boomstick Color by Cindy Joseph.
Accentuating the Eyes
Ariane applied eye shadow to Devorah’s eyes using Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Amethyst. It was the perfect colour and brought out a beautiful turquoise streak in her eyes. It demonstrated how the careful choice of eye shadow shade can actually change the colour of the eyes.
Ariane applied a little touch of Ariane Poole Super Wear Gel Pencil in Baroque on the top and bottom of Devorah’s lids and mentioned Nars the Multiple in Copacabana and Ariane Poole Eye Shine in Cosmic as options. Ariane reminded us not to use a brown liner if we have any kind of redness in our eyes. She suggested using charcoal as a better alternative.
Using a Navy Mascara
Next, Ariane applied Ariane Poole Navy Mascara on Devorah’s top lashes and a tiny bit on the bottom. She explained that using blue mascara, instead of black, gives brightness and lift to the eyes. Navy blue makes the eyes look whiter.
If you want to put a “raincoat” on your mascara, you can use Ariane Poole Waterproofer, which can be used with any mascara. She also mentioned L’Oreal False Lash Flutter in Midnight Blacks Blue, Mavala Waterproof Mascara in Midnight Blue, Laura Mercier Long Lash Mascara in Bleu or Clarins Double Fix Mascara.
Adding Glow and Lift with a Highlighter
For an added glow and lift, Ariane applied a little highlighter on the corner of Devorah’s eyes. She used Ariane Poole Mineral Illuminating Pen in Peach but suggested other great products like Estee Lauder Double Wear Brush on Glow BB Highlighter, Boomstick Glimmer by Cindy Joseph, Ariane Poole Under Eye & Face Brightener and Ariane Poole Luminizer Stick.
Fishing off the Makeover with Lip Gloss
For Devorah lips, Ariane chose Ariane Poole Luxury Gloss in Sugar Berry, a colour that was perfect for her skin tone and lip base colour. For her skin tone, Ariane said that a coral or peach shade would drain the colour from her face.
Devorah loved her new look and felt the transformation was perfect. Despite her hesitancy about wearing makeup, she appreciated how a little makeup could make her feel energized and refreshed.
