I have always considered myself a sensitive person. I cry easily. I tear up while watching the news or reading a human interest story. I weep at both happy and sad movies, at weddings, concerts, reunions and listening to music. I even cry when I read those Facebook posts with titles that end with “you won’t believe what happens next.”
Learning how to deal with stress is not a simple matter. After all, stress is different for every woman. Some find it easy to deal with complex problems, but are overwhelmed by tiny annoyances. Others constantly worry about everything, from finances to family.
Why is a 60-year-old woman going to see “Frozen”, an animated children’s Disney movie, for the third time? The answer is that this film quite honestly changed my life.
Women over 60 are entering a new chapter of life. We have lived and loved and recovered from heartbreak and loss, we have strived in the career arena and tended the home fires and (often) nurtured children and cared for aging parents of our own. And as we get older, because of all that we have experienced and surmounted during our lives, many women over 60 find themselves feeling more optimistic about life than ever before.
We have lived with change and uncertainty our entire lives; in fact it is one of life’s few constants. You would think we would be used to it by now, but we aren’t. With that in mind, we’ve listed the top six fears of women over sixty and, more importantly, done our best to search for comfort and empowerment.
