There is a dreamlike quality to becoming a grandmother. In 50 or 60 years of life you have started new careers, taken on new roles and learned all kinds of new skills. Easy peasy! If you want to be a teacher or doctor there are plenty of books to read. When you become a grandmother, you have 9 months to get used to your new role and have hardly any idea where to even start.

One fun place to start your journey is choosing a grandma name. Of course, you can leave it up to your grandchild to decide, but, where’s the fun in that? :) Fortunately, there are plenty of fun names to choose from.

You could go with the traditional “Grandma”, “Granny”, or “Nanny”. Or you could decide to be more modern and differentiate yourself from your mom or grandmother. For example, you could choose a celebrity inspired name like “GaGa”, “Lola” or “Shazza”. Or, you could go with a trendy name like Coco or Neema. Personally, I love the Russian name for grandmother “Baba,” which all of my grandkids, Russian or not, call me.
