Unbalanced Eyebrows Got You Down? These Makeup Tips for Older Women Will Help!
It is a well-known fact that eyebrows truly create the foundation for your face. Eyebrows frame and give your face definition. They may be one of the most important factors to creating a perfectly made-up face.
Many people struggle with creating a perfectly defined and natural looking brow. But as older women, we face some very particular eyebrow struggles.
Thinning, graying, or uneven brows are all common issues for women in the Sixty and Me community. But thanks to some advice from celebrity makeup artist, Ariane Poole, our eyebrows no longer need be a point of contention for us!
With some help from Ariane, you can achieve perfect brows that look fuller, darker and more symmetrical. Let’s see what she has to say!
Achieving That Perfect Brow
Looking at Ariane, you would never know that she faces the same eyebrow issues that the rest of us do – her brows look perfect! But she shares with us that she, too, deals with uneven and thinning brows. The trick is knowing how to properly fill them in.
Ariane begins by prepping her brows with a mineral pen to get rid of redness and mimics Botox by relaxing the muscles around her eyes.
Thinning eyebrows are an issue for many women, regardless of whether it’s due to over-plucking or simple ageing. Ariane shares several excellent products for filling in thinning brows and giving the illusion of a thick and full eyebrow.
Gimme Brow by Benefit
This product features a convenient wand that is best used backwards. After going backwards over your brows, you then fill in and comb your brows. It works wonders for creating the illusion of having more hair. It’s also available in several colors.
Cherry Blooms Instant Fiber Brows
This product is similar to a felt-tipped pen. It’s very tiny and allows you to paint in and create eyebrow hairs. The feathering ability of this pen creates a very natural look.
Stila Eyebrow Pencil
The Stila eyebrow pen is quite amazing at filling in gaps. It has a felt-tipped feel to it and comes in a wide range of colors.
Brow Balms are very effective at creating fuller looking brows. You use this product by dipping a small brush into the balm and brush your eyebrows down. Next, you edge along the top of the brows. This helps to not only fill in the brows but also create a hair-like effect.
Tips for Uneven Brows
When creating the illusion of even and perfectly arched brows, it takes more than just good products to get the job done. With the following brow-evening steps from Ariane, combined with some of her suggested products, your brows will appear even and offer the perfect framing to your face in no time!
When dealing with uneven brows, choose the brow you like the best. Your goal is to make the other brow look similar to your favorite brow.
Use a white pencil to modify the more uneven brow to match the favorite brow. Be sure to keep the shape of your face in mind.
When using a white pencil, make a line to mark the inner side of your brow, then repeat on the outer side.
Lay the rear of your pencil along the preferred brow, so that the tip of the pencil reaches the other brow, and mark the desired arch height there.
Based on this measurement, you can pluck any hairs that are causing the brows to appear uneven. Depending on what you remove, you can fill in accordingly to balance it out.
With all the craziness going on in the world around us, it may seem a bit narcissistic to be focusing on something so trivial as eyebrows. But Ariane reminds us that this couldn’t be further from the truth!
Shaping our eyebrows is just a small step that we can take towards feeling good about ourselves, which allows us to go out and share that goodness with the world.
Feeling good about ourselves helps us spread love and good-feelings to those around us, and that is neither trivial nor narcissistic! We hope that you found these makeup tips for older women helpful. If you did, please share them with a friend!
