If you ask most young women what they fear most about getting older, having grey hair is probably on their list. Of course, as with so many aspects of the aging process, the fear is usually much worse than the reality.

In fact, many women I know actually end up liking their silver strands more than they liked their blond, brunette or red hair. Does this sound like you?

What Are the Best Things About Having Grey Hair?

Of course, it’s not just the way that having grey hair makes them look that many women like. Several members of the Sixty and Me community have told me that they also enjoy having a little extra money in their pockets. This is because the average woman spends $100’s per year on hair color products.

Other women say that they appreciate not having to hassle with their hair every month. They still have to take care of their hair, but, the burden is significantly less in terms of time.

Finally, there are women who say that choosing to go grey is empowering. These women say that going grey is a way to tell the world – and, more importantly, yourself – that aging is not something to be feared or avoided.

To be honest, I have a lot of respect for all of these reasons. Now that I am working for myself, I could certainly let my hair go grey without raising any eyebrows. At the same time, I simply like how my blond hair looks. Maybe one day, I’ll give grey hair a try.

Until then, I’d love to get your perspective on this. If you have decided to go grey, I’d love to hear why. Or, if, like me, you still color your hair, I’d love to hear from you too.

Do you have grey hair? If so, what are the best things about having grey hair? Do you still color your hair? Why have you decided not to go grey at this time? Please join the conversation!
