4 Fun Sources of Inspiration for Grandma Names
One of the most entertaining parts of being a grandma is getting to hear all of the funny things that your grandkids say. From the cringe worthy things that they repeat from the other kids at school to the names that they give to us, grandkids are hilarious!
For the most part, we just accept the names that our grandkids call us. It’s just nice to be appreciated! But, I thought that it might be fun to examine some of the other options. After all, this is a name that we will hear over and over again. So, maybe we can get our grandkids to use one that we love to hear!
Here are 4 fun ideas for choosing a name for yourself with your grandkids. Maybe you can choose a fun new name together!
Take a Grandma Names Quiz
This site has a fun quiz on “which grandmother name is right for you,” which might give you some ideas. You can go through a list of questions that assess your personality, style and favorite things to do, and as a result, you’ll see which grandmother name you should actually be using.
I took the test and got “Bebe.” How do they describe me? “You’re a sophisticated intellectual. You’ll be a fantastic grandmother because you will teach your grandchildren so much.” This seems like a good result because I am actually called “Baba” – which is close to “Bebe.”
What result did you get?
Choose a “Celebrity Grandma” Name

Get Inspired by “Baby Talk”
It’s hard for babies to say “grandma” and “grandpa,” so some grandparents decide on names that evolved from a baby’s early “mispronunciations” of the actual word. Often the muddled word sounded cute and was fun to see the baby’s response when saying it, so they decided to use it anyway.
For example, do any of these “mispronounced” Grandma names sound familiar in your family?
- Baba (my personal favourite, since one of my granddaughters speaks Russian!)
