Halloween is a bitter-sweet time of the year for me. On the one hand, I love seeing all of the kids in my neighborhood dress up. I simply adore seeing their faces when they open my door to collect candy and see how I have decorated. They are so cute!

On the other hand, I miss my own granddaughter on days like today. Unlike Christmas and New Year’s, when we try to get everyone together, Halloween isn’t a big enough holiday for me to make a trip to Scotland. So, instead, I have to make due with seeing my granddaughter wearing her costume on Skype.

All that said, the fact that I can’t be with my own grandchild doesn’t stop me from wanting to enjoy the holiday. So, I decorate my entrance hall and carve a pumpkin or two. This year, I did a little research and found some amazing pumpkin ideas. Even if you don’t feel up to replicating them exactly (I know I couldn’t!), I hope that they will offer a little inspiration.

Please take a look at these amazing pumpkin carving ideas and let us know which ones are your favorites. Even better, why not post your own pumpkin pictures in the comments section at the end of this article.

Also, don’t forget to check out the short video at the end of this article. If you, or your husband, are handy with a hammer, your grandkids will be really impressed by the trick that they show for creating cool pumpkin carvings.
