Today’s Good News Story – Neil Diamond Thanks Firefighters with a Song
For many weeks now, we have been hearing about the destructive wildfires in California. Despite the heroic efforts of our firefighters, there hasn’t been much good news to report.
So, today, I would like to share a short “good news” story related to the fires.
Colorado firefighters have been battling a wildfire burning near Basalt, Colorado since July 3. And while all of the residents of Basalt are undoubtedly grateful for the continued efforts firefighters to contain and put out the blaze, no one says thank you quite like Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Neil Diamond.
The 77-year-old music icon and Colorado resident surprised firefighters and their families with an impromptu performance to say thank you for helping to put out the fire burning near his home.
Here is a video of Neil Diamond performing for his favorite firefighters.
Margaret’s Message for the Day
Today, I’m thinking a lot about the importance of getting in shape after 60. You know, there are many areas of my life that I feel like I have succeeded.
I have raised wonderful children. I am proud of my work with Sixty and Me. I have explored this wonderful world of ours… and I still have many places to visit!
One area that I haven’t done so well though is with regards to my physical fitness. While I am healthy (touch wood) I don’t have the physical strength, endurance and balance that I would like.
So, today, I thought that I would start a conversation about getting in shape after 60. I’d love to hear whether you feel like you have succeeded at this and, if so, how you did it.
After all, we learn best from each other!
Quote for the Day
