Have You Tried Online Dating After 50? What Was Your Experience?

By Margaret Manning April 13, 2015 Dating

When I set out to create Boomerly, I knew that I didn’t want to build another “over 50 dating” site. Instead, I wanted to create a place that baby boomers could come to make new friends, no matter what they were looking for – a travel partner, a friend, a tennis partner or just someone to talk with. If some of our members find love along the way, I would be delighted. But, that’s definitely not the focus of the site.

At the same time, since many members of our community are still interested in finding romantic relationships after 50, I’m really curious what your experiences with online dating have been so far.

From a previous poll, I know that 90% of you believe that finding love after 50 is possible. What’s less clear is whether you think that online dating is the best way to find love after 50 or if you think that it’s better to meet someone in the real world.

When I speak to our members one-on-one about online dating after 50, they tend to have one of two opinions. Either they have found love themselves or know someone who has. Or, they tried online dating, had a negative experience, and decided that it wasn’t for them.

I’d love to hear what you think about this.

Have you tried online dating after 50? What was your experience? Have you or someone that you know met someone amazing online? What advice would you give to the other people in our community about dating after 50? Please join the conversation.
