That’s Hot! Why Every Older Woman Needs a Heated Eyelash Curler

By Margaret Manning November 29, 2016 Beauty

Today, I want to talk about the hottest addition that you can make to your makeup collection – a heated eyelash curler. It may sound a bit exotic, but, I promise you this – once you try this amazing tool for the first time, you won’t be able to turn back! Join us as Ariane and I discuss how to find and use a heated eyelash curler. Enjoy the show!

Margaret Manning:

Today’s guest is Arianne Poole who is a celebrity makeup artist. She is a great friend of Sixty and Me. Welcome, Arianne.

Ariane Poole:

Hi, Margaret! Hi, everyone.

Margaret:

Our community loves you. We’ve been doing makeup videos for about three years, right?

Ariane:

Yes, three years. It goes by real quick.

Margaret:

I know, it really does. You look exactly the same as when we started.

Ariane:

No, I don’t. I’ve seen the pictures.

Margaret:

We’ve had some fun along the way, though. We did a video series with you, and you did a makeover on me. It was so much fun. I remember there was one product that you used when you worked on me. I loved it, and I don’t know why I didn’t actually get it. I think it was out of stock for a while.

Ariane:

It was out of stock.

Margaret:

It was a heated eyelash curler. Now I have those pinchy ones. I don’t use them every day, just when I’m going out and I want to make my eyes look really special. There’s this product that you sell on your website, and it’s a heated eyelash curler. Tell us how it works. It’s so cool.

Ariane:

It’s battery operated, and it heats up. It’s much like a curling tong or a curler. The curved part starts off red, and you wait until it goes white to use it. It’s warm, not boiling hot. I can touch it, and I’m not going to scald myself.

The trick is that you have to apply your mascara first, whereas with the pinching ones, you do the pinch first. I always was scared of the pinching one because on my high school prom I pinched myself really bad with it. I had this huge welt on my eye, and I was in so much pain. I was hopping around the room, crying. I was in agony.

With the heated curler, you first wait for it to heat up. You’ve got the little red light telling you the battery is charged. All you do is apply your mascara as you would normally do, then hold the curler against the lash. That’s all you do, and it works with anyone’s mascara, not just mine.

Margaret:

I wanted to mention that when you did it on my eye, the warmth was very gentle. You almost don’t feel it. I know people get scared to put anything on the eye that is heated or has electricity or battery in it. There is nothing to fear in this curler.

Ariane:

It opens up the lashes. If you’ve got really straight eyelashes, or you’re trying to get that little curve towards the outer edge, it’s fantastic. All you’re doing is holding it at the base of the lashes with the little wiry thing. You’re not doing any moving or anything like that.

Margaret:

It’s a really cool little device, though I don’t know who invented it.

Ariane:

Oh, it’s a genius idea. I know there are lots of other ones on the market. This one has got just the right amount of heat. Some curlers are a little bit insipid, and I find they don’t do anything. You could use your finger instead, and it would do the same thing.

Margaret:

A spoon or something.

Ariane:

Exactly. I love this one as it really bends the lashes back. The mascara acts as a setting lotion, and the effect is to really open up the eyes. Some people use it every single day, others use it when they are going out. It’s up to you, but it really works.

Margaret:

If you hold still with your eyes open, the effect is clearly visible. You have great eyes.

Ariane:

It really opens up your eyes. I love it.

Margaret:

It’s really cool and it’s on ArianePoole.com. If you’re interested, check it out. It’s a lovely little treat to pamper yourself with.

Thanks for showing us, Ariane. It’s really great. Thanks.

What was your first thought when you saw today’s topic – heated eyelash curler? Now that you know what this device is really about, would you try it on yourself?
