5 Inspirational Ways Fashion After 60 Exudes Elegance (It’s Simpler Than You Think!)

By Sixty and Me October 18, 2018 Beauty

Fashion for older women can be as elegant, breathtaking and unforgettable as you desire. There are simple, yet, effective ways to put yourself in the right mindset to make it utterly effortless to a point when it becomes second nature! We are sure you are going to love today’s video with Jess Jannenga from Elegantly Dressed and Stylish!

Margaret Manning is joined by fashion blogger Jess Jennenga in today’s fashion interview, to discuss different ways women over 60 can make sophisticated fashion choices such as how you can choose elegant dresses!

Women Over 60 with Stunning Fashion Sense

There is no shortage of stunning, graceful women to look to for inspiration if you are stuck for ideas. Hollywood has no shortage of inspirational, mature women that make fashion over 60 look effortless!

Jess finds Helen Mirren to be a great role model and feels her “style is always spot on when it comes to award shows,” and Margaret thinks of people such as Grace Kelly as being elegant.

Everyone has a different person they admire, or aspire to emulate in some way, and there is indeed nothing wrong with injecting a little Hollywood glamour into your life!

Dress Styles with Effortless Elegance

Dresses are the simplest way to create an effortlessly chic look. Different styles will, of course, be suited better to one body shape or another but some styles look great without too much effort needed.

Jess loves wrap dresses and feels it’s a style that suits everyone. Her other tips are floral and maxi dresses as they can be worn in summer right through into fall, by adding a cardigan for cooler days to complete your look.

The fabrics you choose can also make a big difference to how the dress falls on your figure. For a timeless choice of fabric, Jess believes you “can’t go wrong with silk.” Although materials with spandex can be more comfortable and forgiving than other fabrics, they can also cling, so it’s important to find a cut that compliments your figure.

Comfortable Shoes Can Still Be Stylish!

When we hear the phrase ‘comfortable shoes’ most of us automatically conjure images of clunky orthotics but this is no longer the case! Shoe designs have come a long way, and many manufacturers have realized fashion for mature women needs to be stylish as well as functional.

In today’s fashion after 60 interview, Jess shows off some gorgeous shoes that are also comfortable. She even shows off a pair with two-inch heels she has worn all day without discomfort! Her go-to pick for stylish footwear that doesn’t leave her in pain within minutes is Jambu shoes.

Beautiful Bags That Lift Your Look

Your look is never quite complete if you don’t have a bag that takes it to the next level. Many of us fall into the habit of running out of the door with our current day-to-day handbag that doesn’t necessarily work well with what we are wearing.

Bags add color and texture to your outfit and with so many options available who can resist having a multitude of them in your closet? Why shouldn’t you be spoiled for choice?

Jess loves small quilted bags such as the Kate Spade one she shows us in today’s Fashion after 60 video, and they can be as bold or bright as you like! As Margaret says, “elegant doesn’t have to be delicate.”

Be Captivating With Your Confidence

Fashion for mature women has a natural elegance, but that does not compare to the effect gracefulness can have – which is easy to exude when you are feeling confident!
Give yourself permission to feel unforgettable and timeless on the outside and if you’re not feeling it for some reason, ‘fake it until you make it’!

It’s easier than you think!
