What’s a Trench Coat?

A traditional trench coat typically has a belted silhouette, single or double-breasted buttons, a tailored lapel or notched color, and belted cuffs. They are designed with fabrics that are made for mildly cold weather conditions and they are often water resistant. They generally are made from cotton, nylon, polyester, leather, or blends of these fabrics.

A similar design coat made with wool is called a peacoat or a walking coat. Trench coats can be short, resting at hip level, and can also be found knee-length and even maxi. Of course, there are various ways to design and style trench coats as you will see in our list. They are an essential item to add to your wardrobe that you can wear for years.
