Many factors can bring on dry skin. Cold winter months, hot summer days, electric heating, certain medications and medical issues. Also, as we age our skin tends to naturally lose moisture.
Body lotions don’t have to break the bank. Many acclaimed moisturizing body lotions can be found in pharmacies for under $10. We’ve put together a range of body lotions that we feel are excellent for women of all ages and also for those over 60.
When searching for a moisturizing lotion for very dry skin, it’s important to look for specific characteristics and ingredients that can help alleviate dryness and provide long-lasting hydration.
Look for lotions that contain ingredients known for their moisturizing properties. Some of the most effective ingredients for very dry skin include:
Consider lotions that have an oil-based formula. These tend to be thicker and provide more significant hydration, making them suitable for very dry skin.
Check if the product has been clinically tested or dermatologist-recommended. This can provide added assurance of its effectiveness and safety.
Choose a lotion with a texture that feels comfortable on your skin. Some people prefer thicker, creamier formulas, while others prefer lightweight, fast-absorbing options.
Consider trusted brands that have a track record of producing high-quality skincare products.
If you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergies, consider products that are hypoallergenic or designed for sensitive skin.
Reading product reviews and user experiences can provide valuable insights into how effective a moisturizing lotion is for very dry skin.
Remember that individual preferences and skin types vary, so what works best for one person may not work for another. It may take some experimentation to find the right moisturizing lotion that addresses your specific needs.

Using body lotion effectively can make a significant difference in the health and appearance of your skin. Here are some tips to help you maximize the benefits of your moisturizing routine:
The best time to apply body lotion is right after a shower or bath when your skin is still damp. This helps to lock in moisture and enhance the lotion’s hydrating effects.
Hot water can strip your skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness. Use warm water instead, and follow up with a moisturizing lotion to replenish lost moisture.
Exfoliating your skin once or twice a week helps to remove dead skin cells, allowing the lotion to penetrate deeper and work more effectively. Use a gentle scrub or a soft brush to exfoliate.
Pay extra attention to areas that tend to be drier, such as elbows, knees, and heels. These areas may need a thicker layer of lotion or a more intensive treatment.
Take the time to gently massage the lotion into your skin. This not only helps with absorption but also stimulates blood flow, which can improve skin health.
Using a humidifier in your home, especially during the winter months, can help maintain moisture in the air and prevent your skin from becoming too dry.
Drinking plenty of water throughout the day helps keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. Combine this with a good moisturizing routine for optimal results.
Your skin’s needs can change with the seasons. To combat dryness in the winter, choose a thicker, more emollient lotion. In the summer, a lighter, faster-absorbing lotion may be more suitable.
To maintain their effectiveness, store lotions in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Extreme temperatures can alter the consistency and potency of the product.
If you’re trying a new lotion, do a patch test first to ensure it doesn’t cause any irritation or allergic reaction. Apply a small amount on your inner arm and wait 24 hours to see how your skin reacts.
For extra hydration, consider layering your body lotion with other skincare products like serums or body oils. Apply the serum or oil first, then seal it in with your lotion.
Make moisturizing a regular part of your daily routine. Consistent use of body lotion can lead to long-term improvements in skin texture and hydration.

I have used all and none of these work
Hello, your description of these lotions and creams are misleading. You say they are free from parabens, but the Khiehl moisturiser ingredients include methyparaben and propyparaben in the description, and most of the other lotions and creams have petrol derived ingredients as well as paraffin , so I for one will not be purchasing these moisturizers. I use all natural moisturizers, no synthetic ingredients, so read the ingredients list carefully ladies!
What have you tried that really works. I feel the same as you on the list. Just asking.
Agree
None of these are cruelty free ☹️
Yep, not very animal or eco friendly.😕
Please stop this “best for over 60” . After reading this article, the suggestions and recommended products can be used by women of ALL AGES.
