This Thanksgiving, it’s Time to Put on Your Red Shoes and Dance

By Joan Frances Moran November 25, 2015 Mindset

Thanksgiving is a time for sharing our gratitude with the world.

It is also an opportunity for personal reflection. As we give thanks for the many wonderful people, places and things in our lives, we can learn about ourselves and our values.

Most importantly, we can channel our gratitude and passion into becoming better people. As David Bowie sang, we can put on our red shoes and dance.

Let’s dance,

Put on your red shoes and dance the blues

Let’s dance,

To the song they’re play in’ on the radio

Let’s sway,

While color lights up your face

Let’s sway,

Sway through the crowd to an empty space

Music and Lyrics by David Bowie

You feel safe in this moment and it feels nice and comfortable, but make no mistake. Comfort is a trap.

So put on your red shoes and dance.

Your life may seem in order, you may feel you’ve got everything organized, but there is a rigid essence that paradoxically has no resemblance to a comfort zone.

So put on your red shoes and dance.

Comfort is not exciting. There’s no forward movement. You don’t tap into your energetic spirit. Life drags.

So put on your red shoes and dance.

Make plans to be the best that you can be.

If you never articulate a vision, never picture something more creative it in the future, you’ll never rise higher than your circumstances.

So put on your red shoes and dance.

Don’t think your needs aren’t enough to build a complete life. That’s how the vision begins and mindsets produce future possibilities.

So put on your red shoes and dance.

Your life is a message to the world and sharing it with others is important. That’s a legacy, the ability to give to others and to the society at large lives long after you leave the earth.

So put on your red shoes and dance.

Be brave in your choices. And make the most of what you have.

This is the simple truth: Life’s a two-fold proposition – to be truly great is to be of service to others as well as to love and honor yourself. So dance with your vision of an exciting and abundant life day by day and watch how your life unfolds.

Get up everyday and deeply desire that vision. Put yourself in the center of the world you want to live in. And please, dedicate yourself to what truly counts in life.

Happy Thanksgiving!

What are you grateful for this Thanksgiving? Do you agree that we should put on our red shoes and dance today? Please join the conversation.
