How much of your love and sexuality are you willing to give to others based on what they promise to give you?
What if you consciously flipped the script on traditional romance and pleasure, and instead of giving away your power to others, you reclaimed your right to create the lifestyle you want, on your terms, from within?
To understand the answer to these questions requires you to accept a universal truth:
Everything you seek in someone or something else is already in you.
If this powerful universal truth is true, why is it so difficult for people over 60 to accept that they can create a lifestyle full of love, joy, and pleasure from within themselves?
We will answer these questions in the final article and video of our 10-part exclusive series for 60 and Me readers titled “Improve Your Lifestyle After 60 by Boosting Your Sexual Confidence.”
In our most recent article and video, you were introduced to the first 5 steps in the 10-step guide to rewriting outdated stories about love and sexuality after 60.
In this article and video, you will receive the final 5 steps.
Your ability to love yourself, validate your worthiness, and even embrace your own sexuality on your terms is not only incredibly powerful, but it is natural and your right.
This kind of intrinsic power doesn’t go unnoticed.
Attempts to get you to give away your love and sexuality have been nonstop since your youth. From the people in your life to media and corporate branding, most of what you are told about yourself is a distorted attempt to manipulate you into giving away something that is truly priceless.
Once you see the reality of this hidden power struggle, you cannot unsee how it is shaping most surface-level consumer transactions, not to mention how often it shows up in interpersonal interactions.
The power struggle isn’t between corporate and media giants, or even between cultures or genders. And it’s not a power struggle between you and your romantic partner.
The power struggle is actually occurring within you.
You have the power to sexually turn yourself on, to love yourself unconditionally, and the power to validate your own worthiness. The power you carry is undeniable.
When you deny yourself this power, you open yourself up to being persuaded, influenced, or enticed to sacrifice your money, body, and mental and emotional well-being for others’ benefit. Sure, you may benefit, but the experience is fleeting.
This is why, for decades, millions of women and men have given away so much to feel loved, valued, and experience pleasure, only to be left feeling empty soon after.
Whether it is intentional or not, when you are constantly looking outside of yourself for validation of your worthiness to give and receive love and sexual pleasure, you are disconnecting from who you truly are.
The less disconnected you are from your true, authentic self, the more power you have to create the lifestyle you desire. This is why it is vital to your well-being to rewrite the outdated stories you tell yourself about love and sexuality.
To rewrite your personal stories on love and sexuality, you will want to first understand the basic premise of the outdated stories and limiting beliefs about love and sexuality you were taught, educated on, and sold on as being true.
We addressed several of those stories and beliefs in the previous article and video. We also mapped out the first five steps for rewriting outdated stories about love and sexuality after 60.
Now, I’d like to share with you steps six through ten, with an emphasis on how they can help you reclaim your power to love and pleasure yourself after 60.
When you give away your power, you disconnect yourself from the joy and fulfillment that comes from activities you are genuinely passionate about. Reconnecting with hobbies and activities you are passionate about boosts your self-esteem, strengthens your worthiness of love, and helps you embrace more of your sexuality on your terms.
Exercise is not only good for physical health, but it is also a proven practice for boosting your mental well-being. It improves your mood, increases energy, and creates a healthy, positive self-image, all of which are vital to reclaiming your power to love and pleasure yourself.
From our childhood, and likely all through our adulthood, we dressed according to rules given to us to fit in. But what about dressing just for ourselves? Our outfits aren’t about fitting in or impressing others. When you wear clothes that make you feel confident, happy, and sexy for no one other than yourself, you boost your self-esteem and empower yourself in ways others cannot disrupt.
There are countless stories of women and men over 60 who reclaimed their right to love themselves and embrace the power of their sexuality, on their own terms. Seek out these stories for inspiration and empowerment.
When you feel stuck and unsure where to begin reclaiming your power, read books or take courses on self-worth, relationships, sexuality, and self-love. In doing so, you open yourself to creating new stories and beliefs that help you create your dream lifestyle.
Join me in the video, where I share one inspired action item for each of these five steps, along with 3 journal prompts to help you integrate what you’re learning.
How do you love yourself in everyday life? Do you find it easy or difficult to find time for yourself?
