Why Are So Many People Cynical About Dating After 60? Senior Dating (Video)

By Margaret Manning September 06, 2015 Dating

Many people are highly skeptical about dating after 60. By the time we reach our 60th birthday, most of us have our share of emotional bruises. In this video, I interview a professional dating coach Lisa Copeland who talks about whether it is possible to find love in your 50s and 60s.

Is it Really Possible to Find Love After 60?

Lisa says that it is absolutely possible to find a good quality man after 60. Part of the challenge, she points out, is that many women have unfair expectations. They may even apply the requirements from their youth to dating after 60.

In reality, the things that we think we need may not always be the things that make us happy. As a result, Lisa says that the first step to finding love after 60 is getting in touch with your needs. Take the time to write down your values.

Ask yourself how you want a man to make you feel. Think about whether “looks and money” are really what you are looking for. The answers to these questions may surprise you!

Does a Man Really Need to Fill Every Role in Your Life?

One mistake that older women make, according to Lisa is looking for a man that can fill every role in their lives. They want someone who shares all of their interests. They are looking for someone attractive. They want someone accomplished, with lots of money.

Not only is this counterproductive, it is completely unnecessary. By the time we reach our 60s, we have our own lives. If our man doesn’t like going to the theater, we have friends to fill this role. Men and women over 60 are independent… and that’s ok!

I hope that you enjoy watching my interview with Lisa as much as I enjoyed filming it! Once you watch it, please join the conversation at the end of this article.

Are you cynical about dating after 60? Or, do you believe that it is possible to find love at any age? Please join the conversation.
