As baby boomers, we’ve seen many trends come and go. Many of embraced our bohemian side in the 1960s. We saw the rise and fall of disco, although some of us would claim that it’s still alive and kicking!

Many of the women among us, including myself, wore power suits, with intimidating shoulder pads, in the 1980s. Now, after so many years of experimentation, most of us have settled on a style that works for us.

When it comes to fashion, it’s easy to remember the styles that defined each decade. But, did you ever think about the fact that the same is true for fitness?

In fact, in many ways, fashion and fitness go hand in hand, with both representing the spirit of the times.

Exploring 100 Years of Fitness Trends

Today, I came across a fun video that shows how fitness has evolved over the last 100 years. The project 100 Years of Fitness, which includes much more than just the video below, was produced by Benenden, a health and wellbeing mutual community. Please take a couple of minutes to watch it, then, I’d love to hear which fitness trend was your favorite.

I don’t know about you, but, watching that video brought back plenty of memories for me – including a few that I would rather forget! Let’s just say that my sweatbands are buried in a box somewhere deep in my basement, never to return.
