Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman Appear Together in “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms”

By Sixty and Me February 08, 2018 News

If you love Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman – and who doesn’t? – I have great news. These two Sixty and Me favorites are scheduled to appear together in the upcoming Disney film, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms towards the end of 2018!

The film tells the story of a little girl, whose search for a family treasure results in her being drawn into a parallel world, filled with fantasy and adventure.

From the description and the trailer, it seems like a cross between The Chronicles of Narnia and Alice in Wonderland. In other words, it is richly detailed in design, epic in scope and romantic in story. I can’t wait to see it with my grandkids!

Directed by Lasse Hallström, the film is scheduled to release in November 2018, just in time for the holidays. So, we have a little bit to wait… but, I’m sure it will be worth it!

Helen Mirren Takes on a Darker Role than Usual

In the film, Helen Mirren plays the evil villainess, Mother Ginger, a powerful character who can control animals with her magic.

Since Mirren has appeared in so many “serious” films, you might assume that she would think that fantasy settings would be beneath her. Not so!

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she said:

“Pretending to be in these imaginative worlds, it’s why I wanted to become an actress.”

Other films that Helen Mirren will appear in later in 2018 include Berlin, I Love You, Winchester and Anna.

Morgan Freeman’s Voice Brings the Fantasy to Life!

In The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, Morgan plays the mysterious character Drosselmeyer. Not much is known about his character at this point, but, you can already feel the powerful impact that he has on the film by listening to the narration in the trailer.

Morgan Freeman is also scheduled to appear in Angel Has Fallen in 2018.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms looks like a fantastic film and I can’t wait to take my grandson to see it! How about you?

Are you looking forward to seeing The Nutcracker and the Four Realms? Do you enjoy Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren’s films? Which ones are your favorites? Let’s have a chat!
