5 Unbelievable Signs of a Confident Woman (You Need to Know Them!)

By Linda Cowan August 05, 2024 Mindset

I don’t know about you, but I always enjoy visiting the local cafe for coffee and indulging in people-watching. It’s fascinating to observe how people interact with their surroundings. Everyone moves differently, whether it’s a shop assistant, a doorman, or even someone emptying bins at the local shopping mall. Some walk confidently, engaging with others, while others keep their heads down, avoiding eye contact. The variety of behaviours and interactions is endlessly intriguing.

Confidence affects us all, regardless of our profession or social standing. We don’t have to be motivational speakers or high-flying businesspeople to benefit from it. Signs of a confident woman are not about being loud or arrogant; instead, it’s about silently looking at yourself with the understanding that you have value and can do something good.

So, what is confidence? It’s the inner belief in your abilities and worth. It’s the assurance that you can handle whatever comes your way, not because you’re perfect, but because you trust yourself to learn, adapt, and grow. Confidence allows you to face challenges with resilience and approach life with a positive mindset.

It’s a quiet strength that empowers you to take risks, embrace opportunities, and navigate the world with purpose and self-assuredness. You are not born with it; it can be built over time and improved through experiences, self-awareness, and personal growth.

Why Is Confidence Important?

Strengthens Us for Personal Growth

Confidence pushes you to step out of your comfort zone and take a leap in new things, from which experience pushes you forward. It drives self-development and change.

Now, let’s delve into the seven signs that indicate you are a confident woman.

A confident woman empowers herself and accepts who she truly is, flaws and all. She knows perfection is an illusion and loves being in her own skin.

You can honestly and respectfully share her thoughts, feelings, and needs. She has the assertiveness to stand up for herself and others but is not aggressive.

Resilience

An empowered woman recovers from mistakes and failures faster than ever. Because she is a visionary who welcomes challenges.

OptimismShe has an optimistic outlook on life. She thinks positively, and during bad times, she dwells on the solution yet to be found – not the problem.

I have all five of the traits of a confident woman, but optimism is the one that I practice the most. The cup is three-quarters of the way full or three-quarters of the way empty. So what do I think about getting it back to full. Some days the solution may not appear, it may take a nap or a full nights rest to solve a quandry, but I am always determined to find the solution, even if I have to call up a friend or two. I retired two years ago in the great escape and thought I could just sit around and do nothing. I was so wrong. I have contracted with several nonprofits whose mission and vision things I would like to see us as Americans achieve. I write grants (my profession) and consult. I also do pro-bono for the younger generations who have formed nonprofits in the political and entrepreneurial space. A learn something new everyday and I stay in touch with my professional colleagues. I have good days and I have bad, but tomorrow is another day and so there is always a good problem to try and solve somewhere. Be the change if you can.

Yes, I believe a confident woman knows how to ask for help and support. It’s a sign of strength and is reciprocal.

I am told that I am confident but I think of it more as being carefree. I care less than I used to about what people think of me and I am free to do pretty much as I please now that I am retired. I love people and show them that but I hold back to not give the wrong impressions. A smile and a bit of warmth in your tone is all that it takes!

I enjoyed this article. Just wanted to tweak one part though that states a confident woman has no support from
anyone. Actually, I think a
confident woman acknowledges the support she has ( people,
opportunities, etc) and honors that support in public.

So amazing that the same line created a reaction in so many of us. I had to re-read it because it struck something in me when I read it too.

Liz P.

Same reaction here. Thanks!

Ditto reaction to the line!

Thank you, ladies, for reading my article. You rightly pointed out the phrase, “A confident woman doesn’t need any support.” I realise now that this could be misunderstood. What I meant to convey is that a confident woman values and appreciates the support around her. However, she can also follow her convictions independently if that support is absent. Thanks again for your response and interaction, much appreciated.
