I have difficulty finding shoes and this article confirms it! Who thought the “retro” sneakers were so wonderful we had to bring them back. They were ugly back then and are still ugly in my opinion.
I didn’t see on style that would cause me to shop. I’ve never cared for pointy toes or square ones, either. I prefer a tapered but rounded toe. Kitten heels have no stability, and therefore aren’t a very good choice for older women. I’m 77, but am fit and active and still like to dress, but I’ll be sticking to my existing shoe wardrobe. I love to wear skirts, and those chunky sandals will not flatter one’s legs, either.
Cute shoes. But the problem I have is what to wear on your feet under the shoes. I can’t understand how women can wear shoes, especially leather shoes with bare feet. I don’t care how comfortable and well fitting the shoe is. Leather rubbing against bare skin, especially in warm weather is tortuous. I don’t want to deal with panty hose, and those knee high versions of nylons are gross and uncomfortable, and they slip down. It’s hard to find what we used to call peds, that don’t show at least a little over your shoe line, and they’re useless with open healed shoes. And what about the trend in ankle pants even in winter. Are your ankles supposed to freeze? Any suggestions for what to wear on your feet?
I’ve found the perfect cushioned ‘ballet slipper socks’ – for lack of a better description 😂 – at the dollar stores (Dollarama in Canada). They don’t show in any shoes I prefer to be barefoot in. And they last many washings until they need to be thrown out. Which isn’t a big loss due to how inexpensive they are. Some styles are quite pretty with stretchy lace trim if you have to remove your shoes when visiting friends. Truly a godsend to those of us who can’t go barefoot in shoes.
