5 Comfortable Travel Outfits for Women Over 60

By Sandra Roussy August 28, 2023 Makeup and Fashion

Going on vacation? Going on a work-related trip? Picking your outfit for the travel part of your journey is important. You want to be comfortable, look nice, and definitely not frumpy. There is no need to look like you have your gym sweats on while you travel. Let’s take a look at some travel outfit ideas for women over 60.

Things to Think About When Traveling

The clothing items you choose will depend on what type of transport and how long the traveling will be. Also, the weather at your final destination needs to be taken into consideration. Will you need warm clothing as you step out of the airport?

Choose fabrics that have stretch, like 4-way jersey and cotton/spandex mixes.

There are versatile things like scarves that come in handy while traveling. I always travel with a scarf. I have used it as an accent piece, to keep myself warm on a flight, as a pillow, and then I can use it as a sarong if I’m at the beach or pool.

Typically, I travel with the same outfit to come back. Makes packing easier.

Things to Avoid When Traveling

Don’t wear new shoes while traveling. Break in new shoes by wearing them several times before heading out. Not just around the house. Trust me on this one.

Avoid constrictive clothing and tight waistbands if you’ll be sitting for long periods of time. Also, complicated items like one-piece jumpers and long flowy skirts are not a good idea.

A boat neck striped long sleeve top and white cropped pants are a great casual and comfortable look. Pair the outfit with flats, a floral scarf, and a weekender bag.

Leggings are always a great traveling item. Wear a long colored tunic over your leggings. A warm wrap, quilted cross body bag and booties complete the look perfectly.

Lane Bryant is a go-to for the curvy ladies. These 4-season capri pants and flutter sleeve top are a perfect combo for traveling. Accessorize with a colored scarf, round-toe flats, and a weekender bag.

You can make relaxed-fit drawstring pants look dressed up by wearing a long trendy kimono overtop. Complete your look with a soft basic white t-shirt, white runners, a large scarf, and a tote bag.

Do you like colorful outfits? This tropical print top pairs well with comfortable cargo pants and a hot pink jacket. Finish your outfit with a navy scarf, shoes, and travel bag.
