6 Makeup Tips for Older Women from Professional Makeup Artist, Ariane Poole (Video)

By Margaret Manning August 24, 2013 Beauty

Ariane Poole, a leading celebrity makeup artist, joined me on the Sixty and Me Show today to discuss several fabulous makeup tips for older women. Ariane has worked with the UK’s top fashion and beauty photographers for 25 years and has just launched her own line of cosmetics.

During our interview, we discuss a new definition of beauty for older women and the magnetic glow that comes from having an inner independence and confidence. Our conversation on positive aging covers how makeup is just one element of the entire spectrum that shapes a beautiful older woman.

Ariane’s Makeup Tips for Older Women May Surprise You

Ariane’s beauty tips include having a positive aging attitude, focusing on good health and exercise, using vitamins and supplements, and practicing smart skincare and makeup application. On a practical level, she also shares secret tips and tricks for makeup application and organic skin care.

Ariane and I discuss how society’s obsession with youth creates a focus on external beauty and how her number one rule for older women is not to try to look ‘younger’ but to use makeup in clever and unique ways.

She reminds us that our makeup application habits often go back to our teenage years when the goal was to look older – now the goal is to reverse that approach and learn new techniques.

We discuss the importance of primers and illuminators, the transition to using cream blushers, airbrush makeup and the magic effects of blue and purple eyeliner!
