Inspiring Female Olympians, a Kind Stranger and a Little Boy from Syria

Humans are complex creatures. We are capable of such wonderful kindness and such horrible cruelty. Today, I felt this contradiction clearly as I was reporting the news. On the one hand, we have stories about female athletes supporting each other at the Olympics, even as they compete. On the other hand, we have stories about humans hurting each other for political or other reasons. Both kinds of stories are important, because they tell us about ourselves as a society. They help us to come to terms with and thrive in a world that seems so chaotic at times. Join us as we discuss a stranger’s kindness in Texas, some tips for getting better sleep, the fate of little Osman’s brother, an explosion in Turkey and some good news from the Olympics. Come join us for a cup of tea and a chat! And, please do me a quick favor and tell one other woman about Mornings with Sixty and Me today. Read More

Another Country Considers Raising Retirement Age, a Surprising Apology and More!

Few milestones have the potential to impact our generation more than reaching “retirement age.” While many of us, including myself, plan on working well into our 70s, others have looked forward to turning 65 (or whatever the retirement age is in our country) since we started working. Unfortunately, as government budgets have come under pressure, many countries are considering raising their retirement age. For example, Germany is considering raising their retirement age to 69. Join us as we discuss this story, U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte’s surprising apology, changes to the Trump team, the floods in Louisiana and much more! Oh, and today is Homeless Animal Day. So, if you have been looking for an excuse to rescue an adorable dog or cat, now you have one! Come join us for a cup of tea and a chat! Two Very Different Childhoods, The Future of Aging and Walmart’s Big Quarter

Today, I want to talk about two stories that took me to completely different ends of the emotional spectrum. The first is a story about a little boy from Syria who represents the heartbreaking situation in that continues to play out in his country. The second is a story about a baby that was born at 30,000 feet. The first had me in tears and the second had me smiling from ear to ear. Join me as we discuss these stories plus the future of aging, Walmart’s big quarter and International Photography Day. Come join us for a cup of tea and a chat!
