What the Heck “Fast 8!” We Want to See Helen Mirren Drive!

By Margaret Manning July 19, 2016 Lifestyle

When Helen Mirren announced that she would be appearing in the upcoming film about illegal street racing, “Fast 8,” I was so excited. After all, after her amazing Top Gear performance, who wouldn’t want to see Dame Helen Mirren behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracan, McLaren 650S or Porsche 918 Spyder?

I was even holding out hope that she might play a major role in the action movie, once again breaking the stereotype that all older women care about is knitting (not that there’s anything wrong with this fine hobby) or spending time with the grandkids.

Well, I’m sorry to tell you this, Helen Mirren fans, but, it looks like she won’t be driving in the upcoming Fast and Furious 8 film after all!

Bad News for Helen Mirren (and Fast Car) Fans Everywhere!

Recently, she told Entertainment Weekly, “I wanted to be driving, but unfortunately, I’m not… Maybe that will come in the future, in Fast and Furious 12.”

Despite the fact that I disagree with the studio’s decision to keep Helen Mirren in a more traditional role, I love the fact that she thinks she will still be producing films – and driving fast cars – in 10 years!

Are You Looking Forward to Seeing Helen Mirren in Fast 8?

For now, I guess that we will just need to be happy that Mirren will be appearing in the film at all. Regardless of the role that she has, I’m sure that she will be fantastic!

The film releases on April 12, 2017 and I’m already planning on taking my two sons to see it!

Are you disappointed that Helen Mirren won’t be driving any supercars in Fast and Furious 8 after all? What is your favorite Helen Mirren movie of all time? Please join the conversation!
